Florentina was the sister of Sts. Leander, Isidore of Seville, and Fulgentius. Holy brothers, Batman! She followed in her brothers’ footsteps (all were bishops) and entered religious life.
I wonder how those family dynamics worked out. If everyone’s holy, is there that competitive spirit to “out holy” the siblings or is there mutual calling on? I probably would’ve rebelled and been like, “Just because you’re holy, doesn’t mean I have to be holy.” But that’s a me problem, not a Florentina problem.
From the sounds of it, Florentina and her siblings called each other on mutually and had mutual respect and admiration for each other. Oh that all sibling relationships were the same! This makes Florentina a great patron of sisters and siblings.
St. Florentina, pray for us!
